Weekly Word December 9, 2025

It is the ninth day of Christmas, and I hope you are enjoying the 25 days of Christmas. Each video is like opening a new day on our advent calendars! I have certainly enjoyed making them. I know everyone has busy schedules during the holidays. Being close to family now, our holidays have gotten much busier. But, it is so good. We don’t realize how much of a blessing it is to be around family until we are not. Life is too short not to treasure the time we have together and take advantage of every holiday season by stressing less about what we think we have to do. That is why we also enjoy our time together as a church family.

I know that one of my responsibilities as a pastor is to equip the saints for the work of ministry (cf. Ephesians 4:12). Starting at ASBC during the holiday season has kept me from planning anything significant along those lines, but I think it has been good. It’s given me the chance to simply get to know many of you–and for you to get to know me and my heart. The slow start has been refreshing in many ways, but I want to go ahead and let you know about a couple things coming in 2026.

First, we will draft our new set of bylaws.

Second, and much more exciting, we will begin discipleship classes on one Sunday evening each month. These discipleship classes will specifically be designed for people who are serving in any capacity at ASBC. Our discussions will revolve around how we do ministry and discussing any ministry issues, spiritual gifts, plugging new people into places of service, and things that are related. Each meeting will have a topic of discussion, but I will also give special attention to questions anyone has relating to how we are doing ministry. “Formations” will begin on February 1 at 6:30pm in the Fellowship Hall!

Here’s the sermon, if you missed it or want to share:

On Sunday, I will be in Revelation 12:1-6 as we continue our advent series.

Volunteers for this Sunday:

Nursery: Teresa

Children’s Church: Tammy

If you would like to volunteer any Sunday, contact us or sign up on the sign-up sheets by the church office.

Ladies! On December 14, our ladies are eating at Interurban. Instead of buying gifts for one another, they will be leaving an amazing tip for their waiter / waitress as a gift. This is their way of blessing our community instead of exchanging gifts that really aren’t that needed. To join our ladies group chat, give us your name and number or talk to Pepper.
