It is the week before Thanksgiving, and everyone is busy trying to finish up projects for school, work, and get their properties ready so they can enjoy their plans next week. I know everyone has a lot on their plates, but remember to rest. Work is a good slave but a terrible master. If I can help or be there for you in any way, let me know.
My wife and I finally got to use our new kitchen to cook for others and have others over to the house. We look forward to building the type of community where we are always inviting others over for dinner and hopefully being invited over to others’ homes. Church community happens more than only on Sundays. We are family, and family spends joyful time together.
Be sure to thank our teenagers for decorating our tree for the community tree lighting!
I also know that Christmas is just around the corner, and there are many children and teenagers in our community who would love to do something nice for their parents but don’t have the means to buy their parents anything. If you so happen to know a child who wants to do something for mom and dad this Christmas, I would love to help him or her make something for such an occasion. I always have drop-pieces of wood because of my hobbies. I would love to be a blessing where a blessing is needed.
Here’s the sermon, if you missed it or want to share:
Things will be a little different this Wednesday. Our meal will be at 5:30pm. Afterwards, we invite our children, youth, and parents to head over to the part for the community tree lighting at 6pm. Our food pantry and clothing closet will still be active. We encourage you to volunteer if you are not going to the tree lighting.
On Sunday, I will be in 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 as we finish a mini series about thankfulness leading up to Advent.
Volunteers for this Sunday:
Nursery: Available
Children’s Church: Available
If you would like to volunteer any Sunday, contact us or sign up on the sign-up sheets by the church office.
Remember, we will be participating in AMC’s living nativity. Please let us know if you would like to volunteer and have a part!
Ladies! On December 14, our ladies are eating at Interurban. Instead of buying gifts for one another, they will be leaving an amazing tip for their waiter / waitress as a gift. This is their way of blessing our community instead of exchanging gifts that really aren’t that needed. To join our ladies group chat, give us your name and number or talk to Pepper.
Kim Johnson, Welcome to the ASBC family!
